Whew…what a week. We just got back yesterday from our first NACDA Convention down in Orlando and it was a blast! For those that may not know, it’s basically a giant (and I mean giant) convention for all the college athletic departments from across the country. This year it was held at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort.
Myself, Mike and Dan went down to represent PEG. We got to meet a lot of very cool and talented people from throughout the industry and exhibited at the convention, showing off some of what we do to the attendees. I know that I speak for all of us when I say that we were really impressed at the people we met. We’re really excited to continue to grow in college athletics, and there really is no better place to go if you’re trying to do so. So many people to meet, and so many cool stories that we got to hear from them.
We also got to do some other fun things while we were down there, including checking out an Orlando Predators arena football game. That was a fascinating experience that I’ll blog a bit more about later this week. A very interesting take on game operations for the Preds, but in a good way.
Finally, a quick shoutout to our friends at the University of Akron, who took home three very big awards at the convention. Their athletic department received gold medals for having the best Interactive/Social Media Program, Best Single-Day Attendance Promotion and a silver medal in the Static Display Advertisement category. They were going up again the big boys as well, so to get these kind of accolades as a MAC school is very impressive. We always love to work with people who are as innovative as they are, so it was great to see them recognized by all of their industry peers.
